Our commitment

Probate is hard enough without a website that fights you. We aim for probate.help to meet or exceed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard widely used for U.S. accessibility compliance.

Accessibility isn't a finish line — it's an ongoing effort. We work on it continuously and welcome feedback when something falls short.

What we've built for

• Keyboard navigation: every interactive element on the site is reachable and operable using only a keyboard.
• Screen readers: pages use semantic HTML (real headings, buttons, links, lists) that screen readers parse cleanly.
• Color contrast: text meets WCAG AA contrast ratios against its background. Our terracotta accents and ink-on-paper palette are designed for legibility.
• Resizable text: pages remain readable when text is zoomed up to 200% without horizontal scrolling.
• Focus visibility: focused elements show a clear focus ring, never hidden.
• Motion: we don't rely on animation to convey information. Pages remain functional with reduced-motion preferences.
• Forms: form fields have visible labels, clear error messages, and helpful instructions.

What we know we still need to improve

We're transparent about gaps so you know what to expect.

• Embedded maps in county pages are Google Maps iframes; screen-reader navigation through these can be cumbersome. We provide the same information (address, phone, hours) as accessible text adjacent to every map.
• PDF downloads (when published) will include accessibility metadata and tagged structure. We're working on backfilling existing PDFs.
• Long-form guides are dense by design. We use clear headings and section breaks to make navigation easier with assistive tech, but feedback on specific guides is welcome.

If you need information from probate.help in an alternative format (large print, audio, plain text without layout), we'll provide it. Just ask.

Office accessibility

Our Sarasota office is wheelchair accessible. Most consults are conducted by phone or video, but if you'd prefer to meet in person, we'll make any reasonable accommodation. Tell us in advance what you need so we can prepare.

Standards and ongoing review

This site is reviewed against WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria. We test with screen readers (VoiceOver, NVDA), keyboard-only navigation, and color-contrast tools. Issues found are tracked and prioritized.

If you're a vendor or contractor working on the site, our accessibility guidelines are non-negotiable: every change ships with accessibility review.
